Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani has congratulated Cardinal Robert Prevost on his election as the 267th Pope. In a statement on X, Mr Barzani said “I am encouraged by His Holiness’s message of peace, compassion, and justice”, adding: “I also pay tribute to the profound legacy of the late Pope Francis.”
