The US Federal Court in Washington DC has summoned Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, former President Massoud Barzani, and others to appear as part of civil court proceedings against them. The complaints were filed by three parties, including the Kurdistan Victims Fund. Allegations include involvement in serious offenses such as terrorism, torture, drug trafficking, and fraud, with plaintiffs seeking $9 billion in financial penalties. The case also highlights diversion of US government aid intended for the Kurdistan Region, extensive business holdings owned by the Barzani family, and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s possession of a green card.
