Wall Street Journal – Ericsson fined $207m for violating US deal over Iraq bribery

According to investigations by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), Ericsson has agreed to pay $206.7 million in a foreign bribery settlement with the U.S. Justice Department following its breach of a 2019 deferred prosecution agreement. Rasech Barzani was alleged to have collected $1.2 million for “facilitation to the chairman” of Korek — Sirwan Barzani. A former company executive in Ericsson’s Middle East and Africa practice was also alleged to have endorsed the donation to “try and get mileage” from Mr. Barzani.
