Kuwaiti company Agility has announced that it has won a $1.17 billion award in an arbitration case against Korek Telecom, a company majority owned by Sirwan Barzani. The ICC tribunal ruled in favour of Iraq Telecom (IT), a joint venture between Agility and Orange, awarding it $1.17 billion, along with nearly US$3.5 million in costs, over a 2011 loan guarantee dispute.
The award follows a 2023 separate $1.65 billion arbitral award against Sirwan Barzani after he was found to have defrauded Iraq Telecom.
