The Barzani family has been accused of using London real estate in a bribery scheme to influence Iraqi telecommunications regulators and allegedly expropriate over $800 million invested by France’s largest telecom firm, Orange, and Kuwaiti logistics company, Agility Public Warehousing. The scheme, allegedly orchestrated by influential Lebanese businessman Raymond Rahmeh on behalf of Sirwan Barzani, involved the purchase of London homes by Rahmeh’s associates, which were then allegedly occupied by associates of Iraq’s Communications and Media Commission (CMC).
