President Nechirvan Barzani is expected to postpone the region’s Parliamentary elections, originally set for June 10, by at least three months, The New Arab has reported. The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) had requested a delay, citing concerns over a federal court ruling that altered the electoral system. Responding to the report, a US State Department spokesperson told Rudaw: “We think an agreement between the parties is essential and do not object to a short delay if that is required to reach an agreement.”
