A lawsuit has been filed against the government of Iraqi Kurdistan (KRG) and the former Minister of Natural Resources, Abdullah Abdul Rahman Abdullah, alleging a range of illegal practices. The suit, brought by Dynasty Company for Oil & Gas Trading Limited, accuses Hawrami of conspiracy, unlawful interference, unlawful intimidation, and inducement to breach contract. The case revolves around Dynasty Petroleum’s negotiations with Spanish super-major Repsol to acquire assets in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, with allegations of illegal payments demanded by Hawrami in exchange for the necessary administrative approvals. Ashti Hawrami was appointed as the top official for energy affairs in the KRI following the appointment of Masrour Barzani as prime minister.
