The Barzani family has been accused of stealing 28% of the region’s entire oil export stock, according to reports. The alleged scheme involves the Barzanis stealing funds from the Kurdistan Regional Government’s oil exports and depositing them in an account in Cyprus, connected to Russia’s foreign intelligence agency.
